NWE WellReport™ · Costs & Tickets

Drilling cost tracking software on the same record as the work.

Costs tracked in a separate spreadsheet drift from the work they paid for. NWE WellReport keeps them together: daily costs on their own page, field tickets logged against the job, NPT treatment decided ticket by ticket, and daily revenue generated from the job's price book — with the day and job totals flowing into the morning report and the daily drilling report on their own.

The cost problem

The money lives in a spreadsheet. The work lives somewhere else.

By the end of the well, the cost record and the operations record are two documents that have to be reconciled — by hand, under time pressure, at billing.

Field tickets sit in a folder. Daily costs sit in a spreadsheet somebody maintains on the side. Non-productive time gets argued about at the end of the job, when the details are cold. And the daily revenue the office bills from is re-derived from the price book every time anyone asks.

Cost tracking belongs on the operational record. When the ticket is logged against the day and the run it belongs to, with its NPT treatment decided while the facts are fresh, the well's commercial story writes itself alongside its operational one — and the two never need reconciling, because they were never separate.

Costs + field tickets

The day's money, kept with the day's work.

NPT is a judgment. The software keeps it yours.Whether a ticket's time counts as non-productive time is a professional and commercial judgment — so the platform records it per ticket, at the DD's call, and carries both the included and excluded figures honestly. The judgment stays human; only the arithmetic is automatic.

01 / DAILY COSTS

A page of their own, totals that travel.

Daily Costs has its own page and its own entry flow — out of the morning report's way, but not out of its reach: the daily and job totals flow into the morning report and the daily drilling report automatically. Price the job once in the job price book, carried forward day to day, and the numbers stop being re-derived.

02 / FIELD TICKETS

Tickets with their NPT treatment attached.

The Field Tickets module logs each ticket against the job as the work happens, and every ticket carries its NPT decision with it: include it in the non-productive time totals, or exclude it — the directional driller's call, recorded with the ticket. Totals respect the decisions either way, and the daily revenue report generates from the same price book the tickets bill against.

The cost workflow

Price once. Log daily. Bill from the record.

01

Price the job once.

The job price book is set up at the start and carried forward — rates stop being re-typed.

02

Log the day's costs.

Daily costs go on their own page as the day happens; totals build themselves.

03

Ticket the work.

Field tickets are logged against the job with their NPT include/exclude decided while it's fresh.

04

Totals flow out.

Day and job totals reach the morning report, the DDR, the daily revenue report, and the end-of-well rollup — identical everywhere.

Deliverables

The money, attached to the work.

One price book. One set of totals.

Every figure below comes off the well record — so the morning report, the invoice picture, and the end-of-well commercial rollup are the same numbers wearing different clothes.

Where it stands

In founding field testing now.

Field tickets are in testers' hands today. The Field Tickets module — including the NPT include/exclude treatment our testers exercised line by line — shipped in the October build and is part of the founding field test, alongside daily costs and the daily revenue report. Founding tester seats are open until October 25.

Honest about the arithmetic. The platform carries the totals faithfully from the entries and the price book — and every figure stays visible and overridable by the professional who owns it. Rates, tickets, and NPT calls are the company's; the software's job is to keep them attached to the work and consistent everywhere they appear.

Common questions

Questions, answered straight.

What is drilling cost tracking software?

Drilling cost tracking software records what a well costs as it is drilled — daily costs, field tickets, and the revenue the job earns — and reports those figures alongside the operations. In NWE WellReport, costs live on the well record itself: daily costs on their own page, field tickets logged against the job, and totals that flow into the morning report, the daily drilling report, and the end-of-well package.

How do field tickets work in NWE WellReport?

Each field ticket is logged against the job as the work happens, priced from the job's price book, and carries its own non-productive time decision: include the ticket in the NPT totals or exclude it. The ticket, its amount, and its NPT treatment stay attached to the day and the work they belong to, and roll up into the end-of-well field ticket summary.

What does NPT include/exclude mean?

Non-productive time is contested ground at billing: whether a given ticket's time counts as NPT is a judgment call. NWE WellReport records that call per ticket, at the directional driller's direction, while the facts are fresh — and the totals honor it either way, showing the figures with the decision visible rather than burying the judgment in a spreadsheet formula.

Where do the cost numbers come from?

From the job's price book, set up once and carried forward day to day, and from the costs and tickets the crew logs daily. Daily revenue generates from that same price book — so the revenue report, the ticket totals, and the job totals are one arithmetic, not three — and every auto-filled figure remains overridable by the professional who owns it.

Do the costs reach the morning report?

Yes — the daily and job totals flow into the morning report and the daily drilling report automatically, even though cost entry lives on its own page. The company reads the day's money in the same package as the day's work, and both came off the same record.
